Every day, we learn more about the importance of caring for our environment. We switch to reusable water bottles, cloth bags, and other eco-friendly swaps to protect the environment!
But what about our mattresses? It's easy to not think about the mattress if you're not sleeping on it, or if it's already gone to the dump. But, most people don't think about the chemicals that go into making a mattress, or what happens to it after its left their house to go to the dump!
That's why we work hard to ensure our latex mattresses are sustainably made, eco-friendly, and even carbon-negative!
What's the issue?

Why does it matter how typical mattresses are made? Well, beyond sleeping exposed to many different types of chemicals and materials, typical mattresses are often made in ways that harm the environment! From the construction and manufacturing that uses tons of energy, to the actual chemicals involved in making polyurethanes and other foams, to the end result: piles and piles of mattresses in landfills!
Mattresses can take years and years to break down in a landfill, leeching chemicals into the Earth as they do so. When we toss mattresses into a landfill, we actively harm the planet. This is why it's so important to invest in an eco-friendly, biodegradable, sustainably made mattress that won't expose you or the planet to harmful chemicals as you sleep!
A biodegradable mattress can break down within a matter of years, without leaking harmful chemicals into the ground! Instead, the natural materials break down harmlessly, providing a great alternative to further filling landfills!
What makes a mattress sustainable?
Finding a mattress that's made sustainably can be hard. Of course, it has to be made from natural materials, but it also has to be made with sustainable practices and goals!

If a mattress is made of organic materials, but made without any understanding of protecting the planet for future generations, you will quickly run out of those natural materials and have to deal with the harm done to the planet. In short, without sustainable practices, natural materials can be used just as harmfully as chemical foams.
So, what makes a mattress sustainable?
Eco-friendly materials, grown and used with the understanding of their effect on the environment!

For example, our latex is sourced from a natural rubber tree plantation, cooked using retired trees, and made with GOTs certified organic cotton, which uses less water than typical cotton, and ethically harvested wool!
Every step is made thinking about how we can take care of the planet, how we can do better, and how we can deliver a product that supports you and the planet equally!
What makes a mattress carbon-negative?
Now, not only are our iAdjust mattresses sustainable - they're also carbon-negative! This means that iAdjust Mattresses actually take more carbon from the air than they produce, making our products a sign of our dedication to being as eco-friendly as possible, as we support you and the planet!
With sustainability measures and work to ensure the best practices, you can trust that your mattress isn't just good for you, it's made in a way that actively helps the planet!

In short, finding a sustainable mattress isn't just about supporting the planet. It's about reducing your own exposure to chemicals as you sleep, giving you better, more durable sleep, and supporting you as well as future generations!
