Natural Christmas Décor

The holiday season is upon us, and with that, comes some great chances to decorate our homes for the season!

And, just because you live low waste doesn't mean you can't do the same!

Here, we'll be expanding on some great ways to decorate your home. Whether your focus is on being eco-friendly, or you're simply looking to have a few fewer chemicals in your house during that most magical season, we've got some ideas to still have your home radiate holiday cheer!

1. Garlands

There are few better ways to decorate your mantle than with garland! While we all know the classic plastic greenery that people have decorated with in the past, here are some alternatives!

First, make your own garland! While this is the most labor-intensive option, it is also one of the best ways to make your house smell like winter, and achieve that classic green look! Tying together the evergreen pines can take a bit of time, but it's a great way to achieve a customizable garland!

Another is a lot less labor intensive! Merely slice an orange and let the pieces dry out, in an oven or dehydrator. After they've dried out, you can string them up and hang them, letting your house fill with the scent of oranges, and letting the bright color light up your home!

This can be great for anyone looking for an easy decoration, or for any minimalists who want a reminder of summer weather!

2. Scent

While various essential oils can be organic, it can be hard to tell sometimes! Additionally, there come the added complications of whether they're ethically made, which can be difficult to find out.

Thankfully, there are a lot of alternatives to scent your home!

First, there are simmer pots!

Simmer pots are a great way to scent your home just how you like! You get to control whether your home smells like vanilla and orange, or pine and cinnamon! Whatever you like, you just throw it in the pot, and let it boil, filling your home with wonderful, and natural, scents! It can also be a great way to use up fruit or spices that may be going bad.

Simmer pots do have the disadvantage of needing to be watched over, to ensure they don't spill over, but if you're going to be in the house all day and have the ability to keep an eye on them, simmer pots can be a great way to bring a lil bit of natural scent to your house!

Secondly, using scented pinecones, pine needles, or even a bit of pine wood can bring in some lovely scents!

Many people know this when they get their tree, as their house quickly fills with the scent of the woods, but for people who can't get a tree, a few pine needles or wood can replace it! Asking around local Christmas tree lots can be a great help to look for tree trimmings and extra wood! Not to mention how great they look as decor!

In short, there are a lot of great ways to naturally decorate for the upcoming holiday season!

At IAdjust Mattresses, we're inspired by life, and believe that just because you're eco-conscious doesn't mean you have to skip out on all the best parts of the year!

You can get the best of both worlds in a mattress - ecofriendly and comfortable, so why can't you get the same in other parts of your life?

Happy Holidays!
