Mental Health and Sleep

Updated: Jul 25, 2021

The world is hard.

Full stop, life can be very, very difficult. It can be hard to live every day to the fullest. Mental health is a fragile thing, and we don't need to make it harder on ourselves by not sleeping.

Sleep and mental health are directly connected in more ways than people might think. More than 50% of people with depression also suffer from a sleep disorder of some kind, and it's been shown lack of sleep can affect mood and chemical/hormone production. This creates a negative feedback loop, which can be very difficult to break out.

Anxiety as well can affect sleep habits, as staying up late worrying and consumed with fear does not bode well for a good night's sleep. As well, anxiety can promote sleep quality, giving nightmares and general poor sleep.

There are many ways to address this problem, but making your room a comforting and comfortable place does a lot to help.

A comfortable mattress may help with sleep quality. While anxiety is a struggle, a comfortable mattress will do a lot more to help you sleep than an uncomfortable mattress.

If anyone reading this has suffered from depression, you know you spend a lot of time lying in bed. While you are suffering and struggling, you should be supported. Lying in a bed that will give you back pain is not something you need if you are already dealing with the difficulties that come from depression. You deserve to be supported while you are dealing with anything that life gives you.

Here at IAdjust Mattresses, we truly believe that a good night's sleep can give you the energy and drive to live your best life.
